NATIONAL BUSINESS PLAN COMPETITION

The 2008 US Network of Virtual Enterprises and Merrill Lynch National Business Plan Competition providing $25,000 Merrill Lynch sponsored awards, will recognize excellence and showcase the ability of Virtual Enterprise students from school districts across the country to apply sophisticated knowledge and skills often attributed to college students and business professionals. The competition will also bring attention to this unique, fast growing program that is becoming an integral part of the nationwide school reform movement.

Working In Support of Education (w!se) is the not-for-profit organization for the U.S. Virtual Enterprise Network organizing the US Network of Virtual Enterprises and Merrill Lynch National Business Plan Competition and coordinating with participating Virtual Enterprise Central Offices. w!se has extensive experience in organizing events, implementing competitions, and working with national education programs.

To Participate
To participate in the US Network of Virtual Enterprises and Merrill Lynch National Competition, which will be held on April 2-3, 2008 at Baruch College in New York City, Firms must register by completing the Registration Form by January 18, 2008.

Team Guidelines
Once the registration form is submitted, the Central/Regional Office will receive a password to the US Network of Virtual Enterprises and Merrill Lynch National Business Plan Competition Materials. This guide will help teams review the criteria for their written business plan and slide show as well as understand expectations. In addition, the guide will provide details about the awards, and will answer frequently asked questions.

Twenty copies of the written business plan, a photo of each team entry and a Release Form from each member of the competing team are due February 7 and must be sent to Working In Support of Education, 227 East 56 Street, Suite 201, New York, New York 10022. The written plans will be evaluated and scored prior to the three competitive rounds of the oral presentations.

Competition Format & Guest Registration
There will be three rounds of competition. The first two rounds for all participating teams will be on Wednesday, April 2. Teams selected for the championship round will present on the morning of April 3rd. While the first two rounds are closed events for teams and judges, the final round will be open to guests including members of the business community, educators, sponsors, parents, and students.

Winners of the US Network of Virtual Enterprises and Merrill Lynch National Business Plan Competition will be announced at the opening ceremony of the Virtual Enterprises, International Trade Fair in New York City on Friday, April 4, 2008.
